Centro de Encontro has developed many projects in Maputo over the past 17 years for street children in Maputo. Among them a school for the extremely poor children that live in the streets of Maputo. Unfortunately statistics have shown that for young people between the age of 16 and 20 yrs it is very hard to find a job. Even the high school equivalent exam does not ensure finding a job for these children. 
Centro de Encontro wants to focus on a practical vocational training for these school graduates with a lot of practical skills and a good prospective to start a business of their own.

Pure! was founded in 2010 by a Group of enthusiastic volunteers from the Netherlands. Their Dream Centre was created to give the Cambodian children a chance to fulfill their dreams. It is a safe place where schooling is offered and chances are created for these children to have a better future.

The Guiana Shield Media Project is an environmental media project with a focus on the Guiana Shield region of South America. The Guiana Shield stretches from northeastern Brazil, through French Guiana, Suriname, Guyana, Venezuela and eastern Colombia, up to the Andes. Inhabited by many indigenous groups, the region has become the focus of attention for several international environmental organisations, and is considered exceptional as almost 90% of the terrain remains in a pristine state.

The headmaster of the school of  Sithembinkosi Mojo (the little alibino girl that we paid clothes and schooluniforms for) turned to Moments of Joy with the urgent request to pay for a fence-making machine.

 
The H. Family (full name and address known by Moments of Joy) consists of a mother (34 years) and two sons (14 and 15 years). The father has abandoned his family long ago.

KG VI Center in Zimbabwe – the boarding school for handicapped children in Bulawayo, would like to make its own reading books for primary school children, in particular deaf children. 

The plan is to create a vegetable garden to teach the children how to grow and be introduced to different sorts of vegetables than the "shimma" they are used to - which is the only vegetable they usually eat.....read more

We are looking for a sponsor to fund the uniforms for 121 children for 3 of the 6 schools in a remote and very poor part of Bali. 

the traditional day of festivities in december for streetchildren of Maputo is a great succes each year. the children are counting on it and looking forward to it again this year. A full day away from the hardships of the normal days.  Music, plays, dancing, good food, clothes and lots of fun games and activities. The day is always celebrated together with all the volunteers of the project in the innerctiy of Maputo.

To give young graduates from the school for streetchildren a better chance in the labor market de organisation Centro de Encontro wants to start investing in vocational training in Maputo Mozambique. They want to start a catering or cooking school  for the boys. 

At KGVI boarding school for disabled and deaf students Courage teaches the deaf seniors as she has excellent sign language skills and is a dedicated and skilled teacher.  Her subjects are accounts, bookkeeping, English and dance/drama.  She herself is in a wheelchair and cannot reach the blackboard to give her lessons.  She relies on a laptop and projector and prepares her lessons on these as well.  She achieved 80% pass rate in her subjects last year.  Unfortunately the rather ancient laptop and projector  the school had found for her are now unreliable.  KGVI now would like to provide her with new essential tools.  

The Ministry of Education in Zimbabwe put a freeze on new staffing some years ago.  Despite pleas to the Ministry on the grounds that it is a special needs school no new ancillary staff have been sent to KGVI boarding school for disabled and deaf children in the past 5 years.  As older staff retire this leaves the school  very short of class assistants.  Because of the disabilities of the children many of them need extra help in the classroom.  In the higher levels many children need help with writing their notes.  These are children with Cerebral Palsy with uncontrolled movements which do not allow for writing.  For example in the second year of secondary school there are 4 students who are unable to write for themselves.  We need an assistant for them. In addition in the early learning classes for the deaf the school needs assistants who can help the little ones learn sign language as quickly as possible.  These little children come into school with no language at all and the sooner they can pick up sign language the sooner they will be able to begin formal learning.  Deaf adults can help these children acquire language quickly.  In total the school asks help in paying 4 class assistants (2 for senior classes, 2 for deaf classes).  Total costs for four assistants for a year: €10.028

At the village school in Junyong, in the Sershul region in East Tibet, the 360 students of the primary school sit on the ground. School desks would make teaching and learning a lot easier. 

The over 800 students of the secondary school in Ntchisi, Malawi have far to few textbooks. They often have to share one with nine other children. 

Stichting Meraih Bintang has started building a childrens home on West Java, Indonesia
