schoolbooks project for Nomads School
The school children, most of whom come from nomad families, follow not only education in both the Chinese and the Tibetan language, they also live in the boarding school with more than 390 children aged 6-21 years. (some of them were already 12 years before they started primary school).
With this donation we were not only able to purchase new books in Chinese and Tibetan language and literature, arithmetic and mathematics, but also books on philosophy, history, economics, hygiene and herbal knowledge. In addition we purchased , a selection of picture books and/or reading books for each age category as well as drawing and arts and crafts materials
So we can provide a good training for this generation of children with the prospect of continued education.
The purchase of materials is part of the Ju Mipham Education Centre (a bilingual primary education school). This school will consist of a complete centre for basic secondary and higher education, as well as technical and artistic training, and various workshops for businesses.
Operating costs are largely financed from earlier contributions, profits from other projects of the Vista project and an ever-smaller part by foreign sponsors. It is expected that the project will be totally self-sufficient by 2020. We are incredibly happy with everyone who has helped us with full conviction this project.
On behalf of all school children and their parents, the teachers, the caretakers of the children, local communities and small and medium-sized enterprises in Tibet, I would like to thank you for your contribution.
On behalf of Rigdzin Foundation and the Vista Project, Elisa Kriek, President February 2016
new schoolbooks for 70 Tibetaanse nomadis children in grade 3.
To ensure a better future for the formerly nomadic children they need new books for the coming schoolyear (2015) They need books on Tibetan culture and history, Tibetan and Chinese grammar, mathematics, astrology, and dictonaries Tibetan/Chinese.
The nomadschool is an initiative of the Vistaproject, a Tibetan volunteer organisation, active since 2005, who try to improve the living circumstances of formerly nomadic tribespeople on the highlands of Tibet. The private school is the only school in this remote area, approximately the size of the Netherlands, and was founded in 2009 with 30 kids and has now expanded to more than 400 kids. The school teaches both in Tibetan and CHinese,so the new generation that live in this area have good prospectives within the Chinese economy. The parents try to pay for as much as they can and the schoolmoney is used to pay for good teachers. However they cannot afford the books yet as they only make 350 euro per year. The project should be financially independant and funded from within the community within 5 years .The coming years they will still needhelp from outside Tibet to fund the schoolbooks.
The Vistaproject is funded by the Rigdzin foundation in The Netherlands. There is little chance of raising money at the larger Dutch organisation's as they don't consider Tibet as a 3rd world country, eventhough there is still a lot of poverty. Smaller NGO's try to help but for the books in group 3 they asking for help from moments of joy.
Costs for the schoolbooks € 2525,--
