Due to the lockdown in Mozambique, it is difficult to educate the children of the street school 'escola de rua'. Of course, the students do not have the opportunity to take online lessons and are therefore handed out homework tasks on paper by teachers. This requires paper, pens and notebooks. With an amount of € 500, they can buy enough to keep this up for months.
Centro de Encontro is an independent NGO that organizes education, sports, job training and other activities for street children in Maputo. It was founded by the Dutch national René Boezaard in 1994. He has since transferred the daily management to the Mozambican staff he has trained, but remains closely involved. Moments of Joy has already been able to pay for various projects for Centro de Encontro, such as shoes for the football competition (you are not allowed to play barefoot in official matches), materials for setting up a shop, the organization of an annual holiday and materials for the hairdresser training.
The organization is now asking for extra school materials (pens, notebooks, pencils, etc.) for 50 students of their "escola de rua" - an officially recognized school for street children - for one year.
