Theater 'The Lukala Drama Group', Zimbabwe
The Lukala Drama Group is founded by development aid workers in the preventive health care in Zimbabwe.
The theater group consists of about 15 Zimbabwian adolescents. The girls and boys - mostly schoolleavers or drop outs, increase the aids-awareness and the awareness of other health-issues by means of plays and music in streetperformances. Later on they want to make videos of their plays which can be used in schools.
The group has good relationships with the famous Amakhosi Theater in Bulawayo and the ministery of health supports their initiative, but he money for the needed materials could not be found. Moments of Joy paid for the marimba's (african musical instrument), traditional drums, a sewing machine, T-shirts, clothes and tissues, a bike, a megaphone and some pieces of scenery. Total ca. € 1600,--.
